REST API
Introduction
The T-rank REST API is a set of services for retrieving ownership information. It is also the sole data source for the T-rank Shareholder Maps modules.
The API is currently available with two different data sources:
- The global Moody’s Analytics shareholder database, hereafter referred to as the Moody's version
- A database containing Danish, Finnish, Norwegian and Swedish companies, offered in cooperation with Tieto, hereafter referred to as the Tieto version.
Functionality and data do to some extent depend on the data source.
The primary goal of the T-rank API is to explain who, directly or indirectly, to a high extent either owns or controls various entities, or the other way around, which entities an entity owns and/or controls. The complete ownership structures can be very complex with tens of thousands of entities and even more links. The strength of the T-rank approach is that integrated ownership and voting power of all related entities have been calculated up front, making it possible to extract the most relevant parts of ownership structures without loading and analyzing the entire ownership structures on the fly.
This documentation does not explain the concepts behind the various measures delivered by this API. For a deeper understanding of integrated ownership, voting power, various ways of calculating beneficial ownership and more, refer to T-rank white papers, available at docs.trank.no.
